Thursday 12th August 2010

Downton and Clarendon Juniors Football Clubs are pleased to announce a new partnership and affiliation.
The partnership will see the Clarendon youngsters benefit from coaching and training with the Downton players, as well as utilising the facilities of the club for some of the older age-groups. With regular slots for ball-boys and special “Clarendon” days to be hosted by the club, both parties are keen to ensure a strong sense of mutual promotion of their ethos that football should be fun, entertaining and played with respect for other teams and officials. Based in Winterslow, Clarendon Juniors are one of the premier youth clubs in Wiltshire, having gained the Wiltshire FA’s Charter Standard Club of the Year Award in 2008, while Downton are one of the areas most successful clubs, currently in Wessex League One and holders of the Hospital Cup.
Speaking on the partnership, Downton’s Chairman, Mark Smith, stated “I’m thrilled to announce such a positive partnership. Having watched a number of Clarendon teams in action, it was my number one choice for a partnership. We will be working together not just on coaching and ensuring that the boys have opportunities to take their football further but also in promoting our combined vision for how football should be played and enjoyed.”
Jeremy Thomas, Clarendon Juniors’ Club Secretary and Under 18’s manager, said “We're very pleased to be working closely with Downton FC, because we can see real potential for benefits for our youngsters: We will have the opportunity to tap into Downton's coaching and playing facilities and resources to supplement our own; Our players will have a very obvious opportunity to progress into a high standard of adult football; and the spirit of co-operation between our clubs will no doubt help to enrich the experience of being part of Clarendon, throughout the club. We see a good match of cultures and look forward creating a strong alliance for years to come”

Clarendon Juniors Football Club is affiliated with the Wiltshire County Football Association and was presented with their Charter Standard CLUB OF THE YEAR Award in 2008. As the Club continues to grow, we are determined to maintain and build on the standards that we have set.

Based at Winterslow, near Salisbury in south Wiltshire, players come to us from all over south Wiltshire and west Hampshire. Whilst we have an enviable record of success in local youth league and cup competitions, our prime concern is that our players are able to reach their potential in an environment which promotes fair play and one which is under-pinned by a culture of safety and enjoyment.
