July 2008 Boyz II Men
Clarendon
Juniors can confirm the Club will be running a mens team for
next season.
The team will drop the 'Juniors' part of the Club's name to run as Clarendon
FC and compete in the Andover & District Sunday League.
Although the mens team is a new entity and not a continuation of last
season's Under 18s, Clarendon FC will inherit a number of last season's
Under 18s players. Together with a number of other players who are currently
known within the Club, they are also open to any interested players
to come and train and have a trial with the team.
Anyone interested in joining the team should contact the Mens manager
James George at james.george@clarendonjuniorsfc.co.uk
Training will start on Sunday 6th July at 10:30am at Hudsons Field,
Castle Road, Salisbury with fitness and ball work sessions and be held
every Sunday, same time, same place until the end of August. The league
season kicks off in September and some preseason friendlies will be
arranged towards the end of August.
The team will play their home games at Barrys Field Sports Ground on
a Sunday morning with a 10:30am kick off.
May
2008 Arsenal Summer Soccer School Sessions.
As
last Summer, Clarendon Juniors will be supporting the Arsenal Residential
Summer School at Sparsholt in August.
Apart
from being great evenings for our players, they're a great way for us
to pay back the support and hospitality that Arsenal FC extend to us.
We
do not necessarily expect all players to attend both sessions for their
age group, but we aim for at least 6 or 7 of each age group to be present
to 'fly the flag' for CJFC. We hope that all the relevant age groups
will be able to attend the appropriate sessions and would ask players
to contact their Team Managers to confirm their availability.
The
sessions will be as follows: (NB. Age groups relate to 2007/8 squads)

2008 Campaign success: The
two campaigns backed by Clarendon Juniors are proving hugely successful.
The
club publicly backed the 'Keep it Shut' and 'Don't X the line' campaigns
and implemented a zero tolerance stance on inappropriate behaviour at
all its home matches at the tail end of last year and since then ropes
have surrounded the playing areas for spectators to stand behind during
every home fixture.
While the club has never had a serious problem at its own games, Clarendon
Juniors were keen to promote that any inappropriate behaviour would
not be tolerated and that the players of both teams were able to concentrate
on playing and enjoying their football without unnecessary or unwanted
influences from the touchline.
Since the ropes have been used visiting teams officials and supporters
have expressed their support and endorsed the stance by the club, with
the feedback being very positive.
Also the referees have been respected more and be able to referee without
any problems, while linesmans have been able to see the whole line without
their view being impaired by spectators spilling on to the pitch.
The clubs zero tolerance policy statement and Don't X the line posters
are placed around the playing areas and more notices and signs are due
to be erected shortly, with the club continuing to enforce the above
for the forseeable future..

November 2007..... Clarendon Juniors welcomes
Jeff Maund - a former senior Arsenal employee and England Schoolboy
international - to the Management team.....
Jeff
has been employed by Arsenal for the past 20 years. His ultimate role
with the Premiership Club has been as Senior Co-ordinator of the club's
residential courses.
During
1959 and '60, he represented England as a schoolboy and has been actively
involved in the game ever since.
He
brings with him a great deal of experience and expertise which we expect
will enable us to further enrich the development of those within our
club. We are looking forward to taking the opportunity to develop closer
links with Arsenal and are hopeful that the members of our club will
be able to enjoy a number of benefits as a result.
Welcome,
Jeff.

November 2007..... Clarendon Juniors has
joined two campaigns aimed at stamping out inappropriate behaviour at
matches…..
New
magazine Total Youth Football has launched the 'KEEP IT SHUT!'
campaign this month. The initiative aims to tackle the ever growing
problem of inappropriate language and behaviour towards players, together
with the abuse of referees and their assistants at matches at grassroots
level across the UK. Clarendon Juniors has immediately given its backing
and support to the campaign.
While the club doesn't have a particular problem within its own teams
and spectators, there have been instances in recent times, when such
inappropriate behaviour has occurred in some form during the Club's
matches. As a result, the Club wishes to bring in a zero tolerance policy
throughout, in an attempt to avoid future problems.
This weekend's home matches for the Clarendon Juniors Under 8's and
Under 14's both saw the introduction of roped areas around the pitches
together with a ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’ which was clearly
visible to all at the matches (copy attached).
This is seen as one way to stop 'over-indulgent or abusive' parents/spectators
from abusing the referee and his/her assistants as well as preventing
spectators from encroaching onto the playing area at the side of the
pitch.
The
second campaign - The 'DON'T X THE LINE' campaign - follows a similar
theme as it also gears itself to raising awareness of the fact that
players and officials should be respected. It aims to bring back the
spirit of sportsmanship.
Over the course of the season, the club will be introducing and implementing
further initiatives to aid the two campaigns.
Clarendon Juniors hopes that other clubs will see the benefit
of adopting this approach and will work together with us to help make
Youth Football more enjoyable for all involved.

November 2007..... New Pavilion shaping
up nicely.....
The
new pavilion at Barry's Field is looking very impressive as the outside
nears completion and work is well progressed inside.
We
are hoping to be able to begin using the facility early this year. It
will certainly top off the facilities available to us and will incorporate
fully equipped changing rooms, together with other reception areas.
