July 2008 Clarendon receives
'Club of the Year' Award
The
Club has been recognised
by the Wiltshire County Football Association and on Sunday 20th July
was presented with the Charter Standard Club
of the Year Award for 2008. This has been gained as a result
of the hard work of all involved, the quality of that work, and the
policies and principles that the club applies. We are committed to making
further progress.
Four
clubs were nominated for this prestigious award and the award was made
to Clarendon recognising the following highlights from our season (which
were correct at the time of nomination)....

The
Club was awarded charter status in May 2007.

The
Club has been publishing two good behaviour campaigns at their home
ground, on the web site and in our quarterly newsletters.
‘Don’t X the Line’ – all of our pitches
are roped off for matches and there are signs to encourage spectators
to stay away from the pitch.
‘Keep it Shut’ – Publicity on the website, at
the home ground and in newsletters to encourage spectators, coaches
and all those involved at matches to avoid inappropriate behaviour.

The
Club has a strong partnership with the community section of Arsenal
Football Club and participated in soccer tournaments and stadium visits
organised by the club.

The
Club now has 9 teams catering for boys and girls aged 6 to 15 and
a senior men's team for the 2008/9 season..

A
new club house has been built at the Club’s home ground to be
opened in summer 2008 and will include male, female and disabled changing
facilities as well as a large function area.

The
Club website was improved and upgraded and re-launched with a public
and members area in November 2007.

The
Club staged a fundraising barn dance in June 2007 generating £1,350
for the club.

The
Club now has a girls' team for the first time which plays in the Winchester
District Girls League.

The
new Welfare Officer has ensured that all coaches are qualified to
at least FA level one standard and all volunteers working with children
at the Club have been CRB checked.

There
will be two new mini soccer pitches introduced to the home ground
for the 2008/09 season due to the growth of the club and the demand
for training sessions – making a total of 2 adult and 6 junior
pitches for the Club.

The
Club has generated a player who was selected for the England Under
18s trials – Ross Bentall.

Clarendon
Juniors has a reputation for being a well run, friendly and well behaved
club which creates a safe environment for young people to enjoy playing
football.
